As part of a $34 million Australian dollar renovation of the Queensland Performing Arts Center, solid-state lighting was applied extensively throughout.

The decisions for using SSL were based on the combination of reduced energy savings and special effects possible, that could not be duplicated with other technologies.

Lighting designs were by AECOM senior lighting designer Rick Morrison. Both white and RGB color LED systems were employed in virtually all areas in and surrounding the center.
