Elevator lighting has always been a problem. Incandescent lamps are not well suited to the vibration, while fluorescent lamps are too large to fit into appropriate package sizes. This an area where LEDs offer a significant improvement. Long life, immune to vibration, and appropriate scaled. All it takes is someone to put the product together. i2 Systems did just that.
By putting together luminaires, utilizing Lumileds Rebel LEDs, and an integrated, dimmable power supply/driver pack, replacing 20W MR16s in elevator cabs is a straightforward proposition. Available in round and square trims as well.
